Governor urges leadership in enforcement of red-flag bill

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said she hopes to see strong leadership in the law enforcement community to implement a red flag gun initiative approved this week by the state’s Democrat-led Legislature.

Florida ‘red flag’ gun law used 3,500 times since Parkland

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — The law, supported by legislators of both parties , has been applied more than 3,500 times since, with the pace accelerating during the last half of 2019. Even so, an Associated Press analysis of the law showed its use is inconsistent, with some counties and cities using it rarely and others not at all.

GOP candidate shoots red flag to oppose New Mexico bill

CAPROCK, N.M. (AP) — A Republican U.S. House candidate in southern New Mexico has released an ad with her shooting a “red flag” to protest a state gun control proposal.

Claire Chase on Thursday unveiled the online video where she challenges “Santa Fe liberals” to come and take her firearm. She then shoots a red flag with a rifle to show her displeasure with the proposed red-flag gun law.

Governor and attorney general call for new gun control laws

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island’s Democratic governor and attorney general pushed state lawmakers to pass a group of bills they feel will help curb gun violence.

Gov. Gina Raimondo and Attorney General Peter Neronha held an event at the Statehouse Thursday to discuss eight gun control bills they’re supporting.

“This is our obligation as Rhode Islanders to get this right, and these bills and more to come will save lives. We know that,” Raimondo said.

1 year after Illinois shooting, police push gun-fee hike

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — In the year since five workers died in a suburban Chicago warehouse shooting, state officials have beefed up illegal firearms enforcement efforts, including the first-ever operations by state authorities to confiscate weapons from those whose gun permits are invalid, Illinois State Police Director Brendan Kelly said Thursday.

“We will be able to do a much more thorough, effective and quicker background check, even for law-abiding citizens, if we have that fingerprint,” Kelly said. “Now, as to the constitutionality and the policy and the politics of all that, that’s … an issue that citizens and policymakers and others will debate.”

Gun maker files for bankruptcy following Kansas City lawsuit

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A Nevada-based gun manufacturer filed for bankruptcy after Kansas City sued the company over weapons trafficking last month.

Last week, a Jackson County judge denied dual motions by Jimenez to dismiss the Crawfords’ suit.

Everytown Law is a branch of the gun control advocacy group Everytown for Gun Safety, which is backed by billionaire Michael Bloomberg. It helped with both lawsuits against Jimenez.

Arizona Senate panel OKs city liability for gun-free zones

PHOENIX (AP) — An Arizona Senate panel on Thursday advanced a measure that would make government entities that don’t allow guns on their property liable if people are shot on their premises.

The proposal from Republican Sen. David Gowan would allow anyone to sue if they or loved ones are injured or killed after being barred from carrying weapons for self-defense on government property.

The measure is the latest in a years-long series of pro-gun measures that are routinely approved by the Republican-controlled Legislature.

Arizona is among the most gun-friendly states in the nation, allowing open or concealed carry of guns without a permit in most places. But efforts to allow weapons on property owned by schools, universities and government buildings have failed.

New Mexico sheriff vows to go to jail over proposed gun law

EUNICE, N.M. (AP) — A southeastern New Mexico sheriff is vowing to go to jail and risk his seat rather than enforce a proposed red-flag gun law.

The Hobbs News-Sun reports Lea County Sheriff Corey Helton told an audience at a Eunice City Hall meeting on Monday he’s ready to go to jail, if necessary, for refusal to enforce the law.

Helton said he’d be a one-term sheriff because a judge would place him under arrest. But he said he’d be able to sleep at night for standing his ground.

The bill pushed forward Tuesday in a Democratic-controlled House committee would allow law enforcement to petition a court for the temporary surrender of guns by people who appear to pose a danger to themselves or others.

Lawmakers defend Michigan student charged over gun photo

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — State lawmakers and a gun rights group on Tuesday called for changes to Michigan’s terrorism law after a Lake Superior State University student was charged for posting a photo of his rifle on social media and saying it would make “snowflakes melt.”

Lucas Gerhard, 20, faces the charge of making a terrorist threat over an incident that occurred in August. The maximum sentence for a conviction on that charge is 20 years in prison.

The night before returning to the school for his junior year, Gerhard sent a photo of his newly purchased AR-15 rifle to a group of friends on Snapchat. The text said: “Takin this bad boy up, this outta make the snowflakes melt, aye? And I mean snowflakes as in snow.”

Republican state Rep. John Reilly of Oakland Township in suburban Detroit is sponsoring new legislation to redefine the crime of making a terrorist threat or making a false report of terrorism.

“I never thought our society was so fragile that someone’s life could be ruined for telling a joke among friends,” said Reilly. ”It’s a travesty that the county prosecutor charged him with any crime, for something that is clearly and undeniably protected speech under the First Amendment.”

More counties approve ‘sanctuary’ resolutions on gun rights

PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) — Two more rural Arizona counties have declared themselves to be “Second Amendment sanctuary counties,” taking stances in favor of gun rights even as some supporters of the measures acknowledge they’ll have no or little real legal effect.

Under the measures, the supervisors vowed to defend state and federal constitutional rights, including the U.S. Constitution’s Second Amendment.

The measure also said the supervisors won’t spend public money or use other government resources to enforce laws that unconstitutionally infringe on gun rights.

‘Red flag’ gun-control proposal is a recipe for decreased safety and less freedom

Even the American Civil Liberties Union says legislation like this is an affront to individual rights and due process.

Utah lawmakers preparing red flag gun bills after original sponsor halts effort

Two Utah lawmakers — one Republican and one Democrat — are preparing bills that would allow the confiscation of a person’s guns under court order, despite the sponsor of a similar proposal saying last week that it lacks the necessary support to become law.

A number of Nevada counties have passed Second Amendment sanctuary resolutions in response to state lawmakers passing a “Red Flag” law in 2019 that would allow persons accused of being a potential danger to themselves or others to have their firearms confiscated by order of a judge.

New York Politicians Lied and Their Gun-Control Laws Failed Again

New York politicians said we would be safe. Democrats told us to register our guns so the criminals would be disarmed. New York Democrats said we needed to have fewer cartridges in our guns so the bad guys couldn’t hurt us. Last week, a convicted felon shot police officers in New York City. We were told this couldn’t happen because of New York’s strict gun laws. Clearly, the Democrats lied to us.

MANLY, Iowa – In light of jurisdictions like Virginia and New York passing or discussing enacting strict gun control measures, some are pushing back.

While the wording varies depending on the jurisdiction that decides to enact the status, Second Amendment Sanctuaries are places where local governments have adopted ordinances or resolutions that continue to back the right to bear arms and oppose any measures against the Second Amendment that are perceived as unconstitutional, such as universal background checks, red flag laws and assault weapon bans.

Don’t Get Trapped by Myths

One of my favorite myths is, “I use my handgun to fight my way to my rifle.” Now I am sure that that has been successfully accomplished, but I submit to you that those times are very rare. Researching actual gunfights indicate those fights are usually over, one way or another, long before someone could run to get a rifle. And my question would be, “If you are going to run and get your rifle, why didn’t you just keep running and get away from the threat?”

It has become apparent that there is still widespread misunderstanding concerning the effects of pressure versus recoil, especially among vintage-shotgun owners.

Self-Defense Stories of AR-15 Armed Citizens: Is an AR-15 ever practical for self-defense?

Despite the fact that millions of Americans own a variant of the AR-15, we are often questioned about why we own them. Most recently I was asked, “Is an AR-15 legitimate as a self-defense tool?” I don’t resent the question, but there exists a lack of honesty in the answers heard from politicians and the media. We hear, “The AR-15 is a weapon designed for war! It has no place on America’s streets!” However, in truth, AR-15s and so-called “black rifles” are used in self-defense by a would-be victim more often than you’d think.

Springfield Armory took the concealed carry market to task in 2019 with the launch of a sub-compact 13+1 capacity pistol, the Hellcat.

As a concealed carrier always willing to test out the latest and greatest, I was curious how the Hellcat would perform. Normally, I sport a Glock 19 sized carry gun, stepping down to the Smith & Wesson Shield 9mm when I need something a little less inconspicuous. The Shield, though, only offers 7+1 rounds so the idea of almost double the rounds is tantalizing.

Springfield Armory hooked me up with a Hellcat to take for a test drive. Though my full thoughts and opinions will come later in a video and article review, I figured why not share my first 100 rounds…

SCOTUS Hears Biggest Gun Case Since Heller [Dec 2]

On December 2, 2019 the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) will hear oral arguments on the most crucial firearms case since Heller; 18-280 NEW YORK STATE RIFLE & PISTOL ASSN., INC. V. CITY OF NEW YORK.

The question at hand is whether New York City’s (NYC) ban on transporting a licensed, locked, and unloaded handgun to a home or shooting range outside city limits is consistent with the Second Amendment, the Commerce Clause, and the right to travel?

After Democratic victories, Virginia gun owners and supporters of the second amendment have decided to declare gun sanctuaries

After a resounding defeat and threats by the Federal Government, the Governor, and the State Legislature to confiscate firearms across the state, Virginia gun owners and supporters of the second amendment have decided to take a page out of the book from Nancy Pelosi’s home city of San Francisco. They are declaring counties across Virginia to be Second Amendment Sanctuaries.

“At least seven counties — Carroll, Charlotte, Campbell, Appomattox, Patrick, Pittsylvania and Dinwiddie — have passed gun sanctuary resolutions” “by the time lawmakers return to Richmond in January, dozens more could follow”.

People may finally be waking up to the fact that the threats made against gun owners and to the Constitution of The United States are real and they are here right now. Maybe we will start playing offense instead of always playing defense. PREPPER DAVES

After mass shooting, guns key issue in Virginia elections

Virginia will usher in a new wave of stricter “Gun Control” and “Red Flag” Laws if Democrats win a couple of seats in this years election.

Who would have thought that this state, once a bastion for freedom, would become so Anti-Constitution and Anti-Freedom. According to the AP, we can blame this change on the “diversity” in the suburban areas such as Virginia Beach.

Groups like the NRA and GOA are being outgunned by the well-funded anti-gun organizations in this election year cycle. Please go out and vote and support organizations like the NRA and GOA if you still want what is left of the Second Amendment. PREPPER DAVES
