The Knotted Gun – A Symbol of Tyranny
When you walk into the United Nations building in New York City, one of the first things you’ll see is a large statue of the knotted gun. This so-called “non-violence sculpture” was created by Swedish artist Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd in 1984 and has become one of the most iconic symbols of the UN. But what most people don’t know is that this statue represents everything that is wrong with the United Nations.

The knotted gun is a symbol of tyranny and oppression and is an affront to everything that the United States used to stand for. However, it is also a powerful reminder that we must always be on guard against those who would take away our freedoms. As James McHenry wrote in his diary on September 18, 1787, when a lady asked Dr. Franklin, “Well Doctor what have we got a republic or a monarchy – A republic replied the Doctor if you can keep it”. This message is as true today as it was then – reminding us that we must never take our freedoms for granted. The United States must always be vigilant in defending liberty against all enemies both foreign and domestic.

If you believe in the Second Amendment, then you should be outraged by this sculpture and you must never forget that the UN is not our friend. They are our enemy. We must fight for our constitutional rights, no matter what. As Patriots we must all stand together to protect our liberties. As Barry Goldwater stated in his Republican convention acceptance speech “Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice. Moderation in pursuit of justice is no virtue.”
On a side note, I think it’s fitting that the statue of a knotted gun was completed in 1984. Not only was that the year the UN’s Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons went into full effect, but it was the year George Orwell warned us about. A future in which the government would have complete control over its citizens. George Orwell’s 1984 told of a world where the government used fear to keep its citizens in line. Where big brother was always watching. And in many ways, the UN is making that future a reality.
Just like it was the party in 1984 that controlled the flow of information, so no one knew what was really going on in the world or how people were suffering under Big Brother’s rule, the UN is trying to do the same thing with its talk about human rights while violating individual rights.
Thank you for reading this blog post. I hope it has inspired you to take a stand against the UN and their violations of our individual rights. Remember, we must never give in to tyranny or oppression. We must all stand together to protect our liberties. United we stand, divided we fall.
