Are You a Veteran on a Government Watch List?
If you are a veteran, there is a good chance that you are on a government watch list. In fact, veterans are being put on government watch lists at an alarming rate. Why can you be put on a watchlist and more importantly, what do you do if you are on a watch list? In this blog post, we will discuss the reasons why veterans are being targeted by the government and what your options are if you find yourself on a watch list.

There are a number of reasons why the government might put you on a watch list as a combat veteran. One reason is that the government may believe that you are a threat to national security. This could be because you have access to classified information or because you have combat experience or hold beliefs contrary to the accepted narrative. Another reason why the government might put you on a watch list is because they believe that you are a danger to yourself or others. This could be because of your mental health history or for receiving treatment for PTSD (this is not a suggestion not to get help if you need it).
Other reasons may include if you have been involved in any kind of protest or civil disobedience, if you have ever spoken out against the government, if you are a member of an organization that is considered to be a threat to national security, or if you have any connections to “terrorist” organizations, you could be put on a watch list. In addition, if you have ever been arrested for any reason, even if it was just for disorderly conduct, you could also be put on a watch list.
You can also be put on a watch list because of the things you search on the internet, if you search for things that the government considers to be suspicious, you could be put on a watch list. This includes searching for information about how to make bombs, or searching for so-called terrorist propaganda.
If you are on a watch list, it is important to know that your civil liberties are not necessarily guaranteed. You may have difficulty purchasing a firearm (your name may be added to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS)), maintaining a security clearance, getting a job, or renting an apartment. You may also be subject to extra scrutiny when traveling, and you may be denied access to certain government benefits. If you are on a watch list, it is important to know your rights and to assert them if necessary.
So what do you do if you find out that you are on a watch list? The first thing you should do is try to find out why you are on the list. This can be difficult, as the government is not required to disclose why you are on a watch list. If you think you might be on a watch list because of your political beliefs, or because of your association with a particular organization, you can try contacting those organizations to see if they have any information. You may want to contact a civil liberties attorney to see if they can help you get off the list.
The government does not have unlimited power to infringe on your civil liberties, and as a veteran who has fought for our country, you should not let the government take away your rights. If you think you are on a watch list, know your rights and fight for them.
